Google has just quietly launched a new Chromecast with Google TV. It is distinguished by being limited to Full HD (1080p) and for a much more affordable price than that of the high-end model.

This version was expected for a few months and rumors abounded about its formalization. It is presented as a more affordable alternative to the Chromecast launched in September 2020.
Two years ago, Google created the event by proposing a major review. The Chromecast with Google TV differed from previous models by offering a real interface, remote control, and new design. A small revolution for a high-end model launched at 69.99 euros. Until that day, there was no affordable alternative and we had to settle for the old generation Chromecast (2019).
Chromecast with Google TV, yes, but which one?
This new Chromecast with Google TV is more accessible, with a price of 39.99 euros. It adopts the same design as its big brother and also offers a remote control and interface. The main difference is that this new model limit to 1080p at 60 frames per second. So an entry-level model, unlike the existing model that offers streaming up to 4K HDR at 60fps.
Otherwise, this Chromecast with Google TV (HD) has the same dimensions (162.5 x 61 x 12.5 mm) and the same weight (55 g) as the 4K version. On the other hand, it is only available in “Snow” color, while the 4K model adds “Sky” and “Aurore” colors.
